After Reconstruction, Riga Unveils Metropole Hotel
The SemaraH Hotel Metropole was officially opened on Thursday after undergoing reconstruction.
According to hotel representatives, the first hotels in Riga were established in the second half of the 18th century, and among them was Metropole. The hotel has preserved its historical name to this day and was the oldest and first business-class hotel during the independent period of Latvia.
The hotel features 88 rooms of various categories and sizes, including 4 Superior rooms (22-24 m2), 4 Executive rooms (32-34 m2), 1 Junior Suite (50 m2), 2 Suites (80-110 m2), and 1 Presidential Suite (190 m2).
The hotel building was constructed in 1871 based on architect Edelson's design. An elevator was installed in the building in 1927 for the convenience of guests.
The reconstruction project has been respectful and sensitive to the historical values.
The De Commerce Gastro Pub 1871 restaurant is located on the ground floor of the hotel building, where it historically used to be.
