Exhibition of Painter Kristīne Rublovskas
On Friday, November 1, the Latvian Academy of Art (LMA) in collaboration with "Semarah Hotels" opened the fifth art exhibition. This time, anyone interested has the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the works of talented LMA graduate Kristīne Rublovskas in the solo exhibition "Beings".
“I draw inspiration for my works from nature and people because I paint what I see, only transforming it in my own view. Since I am very concerned with detail and materiality, I strive to reflect the tactile experience. At times, the areas resemble fluffy fabric, while other times, they depict natural shapes, blades of grass, and animal fur. Overall, the works in the exhibition are slightly mystical stories with an indiscernible plot, leaving room for the viewer's free interpretation,” invites the artist Kristīne Rublovskas.
The opening of Kristīne Rublovskas' solo exhibition was attended by LMA Rector Kristaps Zariņš, LMA Associate Professor and painter Vija Zariņa, as well as other representatives from LMA and Māris Alnis, the manager of "Grand Poet Hotel". The artist was supported by family members and close friends.
LMA Associate Professor and painter Vija Zariņa describes the works of the young artist as emotional, profound, and beautiful:“I had the pleasure of being Kristīne's master's thesis supervisor. From the beginning, I noticed her drawing skills, sense of color, and love for delicate details, combining everything into a personal narrative. The artist is able to create her own story with confidence and skills.”
The title of the exhibition "Beings" includes key words that interact and characterize the common idea. They are "beings," "to be," "I," "not," and negation "not" or contradictions. In the Latvian language, this word can refer to living organisms, human essence, or imaginative creations, images. In this case, "beings" encompasses all three aspects and speaks about such a contradictory yet captivating theme as melancholy. The artist's melancholy is a stage that combines sadness with joyful feelings, aiming to create a sense of contradiction while simultaneously maintaining a harmonious atmosphere in the overall composition of the paintings.
Kristīne Rublovskas was born in 1986. She began her studies in painting at LMA (2013-2017), initially obtaining a bachelor's degree in Textile Art, and continued her master's studies at LMA (2017-2019) in the painting department, which she graduated from this year. The artist has initiated collaborations with representatives from other art disciplines in various projects, such as choreographers, creating stage designs and costumes. Kristīne Rublovskas' works have been exhibited in various locations in Latvia as well as abroad, including Estonia and Belarus, but "Grand Poet Art Collection" marks her first solo exhibition in Riga.
“By creating a unique and inspiring collection of works by young Latvian artists, Grand Poet Hotel acquires one of the most appreciated paintings by visitors of each exhibition and includes it in the hotel's art collection, Grand Poet Art Collection,” says the manager of "Grand Poet Hotel," Māris Alnis, adding that anyone visiting the gallery can evaluate the artworks by affixing a sticker to their favorite piece - a coin worth 5 grands. Voting stickers can be obtained at Grand Poet Hotel.

About "Grand Poet Hotel"
"Grand Poet Hotel" is created by the Latvian hotel chain "Semarah Hotels." The hotel chain currently includes the resort hotel "Lielupe" in Jūrmala and two hotels in Riga - the four-star historic hotel "Metropole" on Aspazijas Boulevard and the elegant five-star design hotel "Grand Poet Hotel" at 5/6 Raiņa Boulevard. Each of them has its unique story and values.
"Grand Poet Hotel's" newly created concept of "Diplohemy" combines design solutions typical of diplomacy and bohemianism, created by the internationally recognized and award-winning concept and design agency "Stylt Trampoli" (Sweden). The project was developed by the architectural firm "Sarma un Norde" (Latvia), preserving the architectural uniqueness of the building. The hotel's name embodies duality, which is often embodied in poets - pragmatism and bohemianism.
